How is Dr Roylott introduced to the peruser in ââ¬Å"The Speckled Bandâ⬠? All through the story, Roylott is by and large introduced as compromising, risky and a wise man. This can be recognized through his appearance, conduct and intentions, there is likewise proof of this character in the story. Likewise, Conan Doyle utilizes different expressions and words to depict him which recommends the man to be hazardous. While portraying Dr Roylott ,Conan Doyle utilizes solid words to form a picture of him in the perusers psyche to be a shocking person.Phrases, for example, ââ¬Å"a enormous face, singed with a thousand wrinkles, copied yellow with the sun, and set apart with each malice passionâ⬠can propose a great deal of things. â⬠a huge faceâ⬠just can give the picture of a serious enormous or resilient individual, this can give the possibility that Roylott is overshadowing every other person and not somebody who loses in physical or vocal contentions because of hi s compromising and fearsome form. â⬠Seared with a thousand wrinklesâ⬠can show a genuine and forceful man and if we somehow managed to go further on this point, it could along these lines show that he might take care of business who is fretful and has a short temper. The word ââ¬Å"searedâ⬠is regularly utilized when something consumes onto something different so when utilized in this setting it adds a sentiment of outrage to Dr Roylotts character. ââ¬Å"Evil passionâ⬠can recommend two things, one is that he is an abhorrent man which can be bolstered by activities all through the story and ââ¬Å"passionâ⬠shows he is somebody who is very determined and vicious in light of the fact that enthusiasm is regularly used to depict somebody who is devoted and intrigued with something. the entryway had out of nowhere been run open and an immense man had surrounded himself in the apertureâ⬠the words ââ¬Å"suddenlyâ⬠and ââ¬Å"dashedâ⬠demonstrate s Roylott to be fretful, childish and regardless of others around him. He obviously isn't frightened of anybody as ââ¬Å"suddenlyâ⬠proposes him to be certain about him self as he doesnââ¬â¢t care about any one. ââ¬Å"he has no companions at all spare the meandering gypsiesâ⬠this can show a feeling of forlornness and loner about Roylotts character. This can prompt the peruser figuring he might be very hazardous supposing that you have no companions you tend to not be an exceptionally decent individual. Among some different statements, aside from simply being trong and undermining he is depicted brilliantly and cleverly. Statements, for example, ââ¬Å"He is shrewd to the point that I never knew when I am sheltered from himâ⬠appears just as being solid and very maniacal, he can maintain his contemplations in control and not continually be forceful which makes him much increasingly perilous. ââ¬Å"cunningâ⬠is regularly used to portray foxes and Roylott doe sn't have any likeness to a fox yet this is the thing that makes the statement so successful in light of the fact that it shows the assortment of things he is able to do. Likewise, a very straightforward perception of Roylott is he is a Doctor which shows he is wise and furthermore bolsters the way that he is cunning. In the story, Roylott had pounded the life out of his local steward and barely got away from a capital sentence and this shows a huge region of Roylotts character. The way that he beat his local steward to death clearly shows he isn't anxious about executing another person yet the way that he got away from a capital sentence shows he is significant and regarded by a few and furthermore underpins the point that he is shrewd as he's sufficiently cunning to get away from the sentence. The motivation behind why Dr Roylott killed Julia was the goal that he would pick up cash which shows his voracity and the degree he would go to get what he wants. Also, when he meets Holmes h e treats him with threatening vibe and twists a ââ¬Å"steel pokerâ⬠into a bend and tosses it into the fire. He likewise calls Holmes ââ¬Å"the meddlerâ⬠and compromises him and instructs him to keep out of his business. At the point when he calls him ââ¬Å"the meddlerâ⬠it might show that despite the fact that Roylott is wise, outrage can muffle his shrewd in such a case that he was astute he would not call Holmes ââ¬Å"the meddlerâ⬠and recommends he was looking for trouble and didnââ¬â¢t needs Holmes to know anything about.Generally Dr Roylott is depicted contrarily and shaky all through the book such that the peruser will develop to despise him, this makes the consummation peak when Roylott is slaughtered by his own wrongdoing and wrong goals. All through the book his character is gradually uncovered to be striking, compromising, shrewd and solid, these converge to make his character and gives greater chance to the puzzles of the headliners all through the

Othello, By William Shakespeare - 1454 Words
William Shakespeare wrote Othello during a time of great racial tension in England. Answer: Introduction: Japan in one of the fastest growing economies in Asia and people of this country are highly health conscious (Czarniecka?Skubina Nowak, 2014). The chosen industry for this assignment is OSIM, which is one of the leading health and lifestyle brand in Asia. This report will use PESTL and SWOT analysis to perform the market analysis of OSIM and it will try to find out the scope of expanding the business of the brand in Japanese market. Analysis: PESTL analysis: Figure 1: PESTL analysis Source: (Created by Author) Political factor Japan has constitutional monarchy and it presently it has a strong political balance throughout its various provinces (Katz, 2015). Japan being a signatory of ASEAN and G8 group, it always provide equal platform to every organization to grow. Thus, entering into the Japanese market will not be hard for OSIM. Economic Japan is the fifth largest economy of the world, and it has only 5% of unemployment rate (Tachibanaki, 2016). Tertiary and secondary sector of Japan produce most of the job that helps to maintain stable financial condition of the citizens. Thus, if OSIM enters the Japanese market it can have better profit. Social According to the World Bank Data, population of Japan is almost 126+ millions and the population of this country is open to incorporate anything new ( Lutz, Butz Samir, 2017). Thus, in this case Japan is a good option for OSIM to expand. Technological Japan is the technological hub of Asia and it has advanced telecommunication. The Japanese population always favors hi-Tech gadgets and products, which is expected to offer advantage to OSIM. Legal Japan has well established Corporate and Labor laws, which are quiet similar with the law system of Singapore (Ahmadjian, 2014). OSIM being a company from Singapore will always adapt with the Japanese economy easily. SWOT analysis: Strength Weakness Opportunity Threat -- Strong brand image -- Large market share -- Strong brand portfolio -- Good customer loyalty -- Partially expensive products -- Small number of buyers -- Expanding more -- Product diversification -- Enhancing supply chain -- Competition with regional brands -- Rise in labor cost --Shift in demand Figure 2: SWOT analysis Source: (Created by Author) SWOT analysis of OSIM shows that, the brand has great scope to expand its business in Japan because it has strong brand image as well as large market share in the domestic economy. Though there are few local brands like Inada and Osaki, who produce substitute products, but it will certainly give rise to the technology upfront of the OSIM (Ueda, Takenaka, Nishino, 2017). Moreover, it is important for OSIM to expand its business in the foreign market too, if it wants to survive. Market analysis: Target audience Cost of products from OSIM is bit higher thus it would be ideal for the brand to select the Japanese of upper middle class for better sells figures. Competitors Local massage chair producers like, Osaki and Inada are present the Japanese market. However, looking into the features and technological upfront of the OSIM it is easy to say that the brand can create their own market in Japan. Entry Barriers Japan being a signatory nation of ASEAN and G8 group gives free entry opportunity to every company; however, communication may arise as a big issue. Most of the people in Japan prefer to talk in their native language and only 5% people can speak English (Smith, 2015). Conclusion: Owing to the trustworthy service and plenty of experience, OSIM is acknowledged as the best producer of lifestyle products in Singapore. The above analysis found that expansion is the key to the growth of OSIM and Japanese market is potent enough to absorb the products from the brand. Though the products from the brand is on higher side but the ever growing Japanese market will always give a scope to the OSIM to grow and enlarge their profit References: Ahmadjian, C. L. (2014). Horse Dealers Daughter By Lawrence Essays - Concepts, Notation
Horse Dealer's Daughter By Lawrence In "The Horse Dealer's Daughter," symbols are used to fulfill the quest of happiness and love. This love story, written by D.H. Lawrence, has many symbols, which show hidden meaning. One can fully understand a story, if one can point out certain symbols. Symbols create ideas and images for the reader to better understand the story. Mabel, one of the two main characters in this story, is depressed and suicidal. After her mother died, she feels like there is nothing to live for. Her mother was the love and joy in her life; without her, she is lost. All she has left is her house, which she is extremely proud of, and her brother, which she seems not to care for. She decides to release herself from her troubles by drowning herself in a pond. The other main character, Dr. Fergusson, sees her and tries to save her life. This pond is a strong symbol with many meanings. It is a start of a new experience, and a change of two people's lives. The pond is described as dead and cold. This symbolizes that Dr. Fergusson had no feelings for Mabel before the incident. The narrator describes the pond as lifeless right before the doctor had entered it. Before going in, the relationship between them was dead and cold, and they had no passionate feelings for one another. Dr. Fergusson tries to rescue Mabel for no other reason but because he was doing his job. The pond also describes Dr. Fergusson's life as dull and pointless. His life was still and silent before he had met her. He was afraid to go in too deep into the pond, and was afraid of drowning. This represents his fear of falling in love. He was scared of the water because he could not swim, and also because he was scared of love. He never experienced it, so it frightened him. When he finally falls in, he felt Mabel's clothing and pulled her up. This means that when he fell into the pond, he found love. It was like fate had pushed him into the water to meet the woman he was meant to be with, for the rest of his life. He found love in a dead and cold pond, which means sometimes one has to look at even the unimaginable places to find happiness. In a dead place such as the pond, you can find something that is alive such as love. This pond symbolizes the start of their love for each other, since they fall madly in love afterwards. The water symbolizes baptism and rebirth, and when she steps into it, her troubles are washed away. It represents cleanliness and the start of new life. Her life before felt meaningless to her, and she wanted to get out of it. She had nobody to love and care for her, after her mother had died. She never tries anything new and when she finally does, something amazing happens to her. Dr. Fergusson's life was just as pointless as hers was. He had a good job working with many kinds of people, but he did not enjoy his life. He had no love in his life, and without it, there is nothing to live for. The pond also symbolizes a new start of his life, since he finds love. It baptizes them and they both get a new sense of life. When Mabel changes her clothes at the end of the story, she is starting her new life. The clothes symbolize a new and fresh experience, one of which she had never experienced before. Falling in love is something almost everyone wants in some point of their lives. It is an important element of happiness. In the beginning of the story, Mabel was dead and lifeless. In the end, she is happy and full of anticipation. When she is out of the wet and dirty clothes, she is freed from her troubles. The dirty clothes represent how she was before she fell in love. It also represents how she was suicidal and depressed. "She had on her best dress of black voile," (The Horse Dealer's Daughter pg.992) expresses her happiness and eagerness to start something new. Before she fell in love, she never wore clothing as elegant as this dress. This is something new to her and something she wants to try out. Her change of clothes also represents her change of personality and attitude. She changed from a quiet woman

Presidency of Andrew Jackson essays
Presidency of Andrew Jackson essays Jackson was a man of the people, and he strongly felt that the common man was the power behind government. There were many different aspects that mirrored Jackson and American nationalism. Many factors, including his personality, his policies, his actions, and the way he mirrored American nationalism changed America into what become less of an aristocracy and more of a democracy to benefit the common man. Jackson was a man of humble background. In his time, a man that was born in a cabin was looked upon highly, and some of those with more noble upbringings actually apologized for not being born in more humble surroundings. Jackson was a brash, strong-willed man. He first got his fame in 1815 when he defeated the British Army at New Orleans with his untrained militia. Then in 1818, he violated Spanish territory without any authorization and hung 2 Spanish subjects for supposedly aiding some of the Indians that were being hunted. He lost the election for presidency in 1824. He finally got his presidency in 1828. Most of his votes came from the West and South. When he was in office, he made it clear that he would get his way. He was labeled "King Jackson the First" by some and he expanded the power of the President. He supported a strong national government and used his power to get what he wanted. He vetoed 12 times in his 2 terms in office. His presidency was one of violence, and a sort of monarchy rule. He was truly a man of the people. He also ignored many of the decisions made by the Supreme Court. Another thing was the Jackson had a strong personality and was well liked they supported him because he was a man of the people. He didn't make his view clear many times, but still received support from the people. Violence was a thing that he used also to get his way. A person was either for him or against him. Jackson usually implemented what he wanted personally, not what was good for the people. For e ...

Preserving Knowledge for Future Generation Essay
Preserving Knowledge for Future Generation - Essay Example Preserving Knowledge for Future Generation One of the major treasures that have been destroyed in the process of these disasters is intellectual property and information. Information impacts knowledge to the society and carries a lot of power especially given its capability to influence generations as well as providing continuity in a society. In an attempt to secure knowledge, the current generation has widely advanced and used technology to ensure that information of whichever form is preserved and retrieved when required. Electronic sources are now being used to store whatever knowledge is available. However, the information already lost remains irretrievable thereby creating an inconsistency of knowledge over generations. Quite a big chunk of the historic knowledge has been lost through disasters making us deficient of it and unable to decipher what it was all about. Library destruction has been an issue that has denied the current society of the need to link modernity with some historic knowledge. These destructions have been under the influence of human intents based on certain motivations or just by accident. Human-made activities make the bulk of the destroyed books and other knowledge carrying materials. There are key incidences in history that have led to massive destruction of knowledge. Firstly, the destruction of the Library of Alexandria in the ancient Egypt is one of the landmark knowledge losses in the early history. It is reported that the library contained a collection of many works to the extent of attracting the earlier scholars who are said to have converted the library to be their study base. Many papyrus scrolls and books not only had massive information about the early culture but also knowledge based on religion, philosophy, and economics among other areas. Being one of the early centers of civilization and the proximity with Rome and Greece provided a perfect location knowledge sharing and acquisition. It is not clear whether the library was destroyed by fire or several destruc tive events but it was completely ruined with all the knowledge it carried. Closely related to it was the Library of the Serapeum that became the alternative of the early scholars after the one in Alexandria was destroyed. This library was too destroyed by burning and looting of the resources thereof. Some reports have indicated that the destruction of the library was catalyzed by the order given by Theodosius I, making the library to be burnt to ashes. This led to destruction of the books and scrolls that had remained from the destruction of the Library of Alexandria. The cultural knowledge was the main victim of the two incidences in early Egypt. Another ancient incidence that caused destruction of a wealth of resourceful information is the destruction of Nalanda in India around 1193 AD. Nalanda was one the revered religious learning centers in India; highly regarded for the position that it had given Buddhism. It had wealth of knowledge contained in books that attracted people fr om as far as China, Persia, Greece and Tibet. The great library was destroyed in a war by Muslim army from Turkey, they set fire on it and is reported to have destroyed all the documents and books contained therein. The library was so big that it burnt for almost three months. Apart from the loss of the knowledge that was present in the library resources, the culture as well as Buddhism was adversely affected. In addition, religious affiliated

The lecture note provided by the instructor is a new dimension of looking at the subject and helps me in understanding certain concepts more deeply. The lecture notes are consistently provided by the teacher which enables me to update my information on a flawless manner. The notes always have information which is exactly needed. However at times, I find that the information provided is too much for a student to contemplate. The teaching quality of the instructor and lecture notes are the main issue in teaching but apart from this, the feedback also plays an important role in class. The Impact of Language on Identity and Social Acceptance in Richard Wrightââ¬â¢s Novel, Black Boy :: Race African American
The Impact of Language on Identity and Social Acceptance in Richard Wrightââ¬â¢s Novel, Black Boy The entire act, the entire situation, the entire experience of discovery is not only unique to each and every individual, but more importantly, a thrilling tumult of emotions gone haywire and perceptions completely altered. Richard Wright, in his autobiographical work Black Boy, attempts to convey the discovery of nothing less than language itself. Employing a wide variety of rhetorical devices and insightful commentaries, Wright expertly conveys his newfound respect for language and its tangible impact on both identity and social acceptance. Perhaps most notable throughout the passage is Wrightââ¬â¢s use of rhetorical questions to both outline his whirling thought processes at the time and create a sense of the urgency in his audience. ââ¬Å"Why did he write like that? And how did one write like that?â⬠¦What was this?â⬠By providing answers to some of his own questions and the allowing the readers to do so for themselves for the rest, Wright engages the readers, bringing them along for the ride of discovery. ââ¬Å"Who were these men?â⬠Wright asks, ââ¬Å"Who was Anatole France? Joseph Conrad? Sinclair Lewis, Dostoevsky, Moore, Gustave Flaubert, Maupassant, Tolstoy, Frank Harris, Mark Twainâ⬠¦Ã¢â¬ In fact, an entire paragraph is dedicated to these the listing of these authors, whose names were meant to both intrigue the audience and create a sense of fascination. The fast-paced, almost tumultuous wave of new perceptions conveys Wrightââ¬â¢s newfound awe over the effect effective use of langua ge could have. Wrightââ¬â¢s choice of diction, chosen to convey both imagery and invoke ethos also proves to be effective. He describes Mencken as he pictured him at the time, active and in a furor, ââ¬Å"a raging demon, slashing with his pen, consumed with hate, denouncing everything American, extolling everything Europeanâ⬠¦ laughingâ⬠¦mocking.â⬠These words, full of fierce emotions, conveys exactly how deeply Wright feels the language of Mencken. With the forming of a realization that oneââ¬â¢s use of language could impact how others saw one, and perhaps even influence what one truly was, Wright describes how his impulse to dream of writing ââ¬Å"surged up againâ⬠¦I hungered for books, new ways of looking and seeing.

Physical Fitness Essay
Physical fitness requires a multitude of bodily operations. The first is a combination of the muscular system and the skeletal system. These two can be combined and are known as the musculoskeletal system. The circulatory system is that which governs the heart, blood, and blood vessels. The respiratory system is that which governs the lungs and their functions. The circulatory and respiratory systems work together to supply the body with necessary oxygen, because the cells in oneââ¬â¢s body need oxygen to function properly. The combination of the circulatory system, the respiratory system, and the musculoskeletal system come together to make up the necessary physical fitness functions. When all these systems are operating at optimal capacity, physical fitness is most successful. Physical fitness at its most basic level is known as physical activity, which is simply the contraction of muscles. At the next level, increased physical activity that is targeted at the improvement of oneââ¬â¢s physical condition is known as exercise. Exercise is the specific type of physical activity that increases athletic performance. Identifying Your Culture: The United States is a bouillabaisse of humanity and culture. Being a product of the United States, I would say that I culturally identify with a melting pot of different cultures. For instance, my motherââ¬â¢s parents are both German-American, so I know for sure that I am half German-American. I also know that my grandmother on my fatherââ¬â¢s side is Irish-American, so I know for sure that I am one quarter Irish-American. But my grandfather on my fatherââ¬â¢s side was adopted, so I will never know for sure that quarter of my ethnicity. Due to modern technology, though, we believe he may be of Irish descent, which would make me one quarter Irish American. All that being said, though, I do not identify with any of these cultures. It may seem plain and simple, but I recognize most with the ââ¬Å"main-stream Americanâ⬠culture. I grew up attending church every Sunday. I grew up eating hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, pancakes, and waffles. Time was spent on the weekends attending barbeque parties with friends and families while watching sports on the television like football, baseball, basketball, and hockey. The culture I grew up in was one of American sports. Describing How the Culture in which You Identify Influences Your Feelings, Attitudes and Behaviors Related to the Health: First, it must be understood that, growing up in American society, it was always important to be physically fit and have a nice ââ¬Å"beach body.â⬠But, as was said before, I grew up eating food that was not always the healthiest for me. A way to keep myself in good shape even though I wasnââ¬â¢t eating good foods was to continually exercise. Knowing that it is easy for any American to go down a road of unhealthiness, I work my hardest to stay as athletically fit as I possibly can. Also, my culture affected my physical fitness life in that, growing up, I was always playing sports. When I was eight years old I started playing football, and I continued to play football for the next ten years. Throughout high school, football allowed me to stay extremely physically active and forced me to always be athletically fit. I played football so much, I even learned to enjoy physical activity, especially those physical activities that were directly integrated with sports. Do You Think Your Children Will View Same Way You Do?: I certainly hope that my children will have the same views about physical fitness as I do. In a nation that is ever growing more unhealthy, it will be crucial for me to teach my future children about the importance of exercise. It is very apparent that the United States does not show signs getting healthier soon. I know that ten years from now Americans will be getting more and more out of shape. My children will not be a part of the ever growing obesity phenomenon. Also, sports are a very major influence in my life, so I would imagine that my kids will be involved in sports as well. Hopefully they will be able to learn about the necessity of physical fitness through sports. In todayââ¬â¢s society, sports also open many other doors and avenues for people later in life. I only want my future kids to have the most opportunity possible. How Have You Been Influenced by These Cultural Messages?: In the long run, physical fitness and sports have played major roles in my life. It gave me a purpose for a time and allowed me to mature as a young man. Also, being athletic at such a young age allowed me set a pattern of physical fitness that has lasted now for years. Working out allows me to clear my mind of stress, increase my bodily health, and helps me get much rest at night when I sleep. I can focus more at school in class, I work harder at work, and I am socially more competent when I am working out. Yet it is tough for a student to find time to go to the gym, especially a student with two jobs. I guess it is lucky that one of those two jobs happens to be coaching high school football. As a football coach, I have unlimited access to the high schoolââ¬â¢s athletic facilities, of which I have been taking advantage of recently. Cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular strength, and muscular endurance are all important to me. On top of having access to great equipment, though, and probably more importantly, I have the ability to teach young people about exercise through sport and the importance of it. I am often teaching about the sports related aspects of fitness, which are speed, power, coordination, agility, balance, and reaction time. Probably the most rewarding influence physical fitness has had on my life has been the ability to affect the lives of the young men that I coach. This is how physical fitness has affected my life.
